indoor pets like hamsters, where do you keep their cage?

Currently moving it around the house, as granddad is coming to live with us. So fudge the hamster lives in the sitting room with us during the day ,and in the garage at night,sounds creul i know, but the sound of it rattling the cage as it tries to sharpen its teeth is too much for anyone to sleep through,anf gd is sleeping downstairs.
Where are you thinking of keeping it?
