If I get 2 boy rabbits will it be a constant bunny re-run of brokeback mountain?

Just that really - we had a girl bunny and girl guinea pig, girl rabbit has died Sad and we've decided to get 2 of each as better company for each other. There's a boy rabbit going free (with hutch, result!) in the local paper, but if I get a second boy will I have to be explaining lots of "special hugs" to ds and dd?

They'll dry hump each others heads, I think. Funny to watch though.

i thought it was more likely that they would attack each other actually, could be wrong though, but i dont think they will be ..ahem...attempting to get down to it.

Ah, yes, will probably fight.

I was thinking of girl rabbits.

boy rabbits fight, we were advised that if we were to get 2 males, to get them from the same family as there is less likelyhood of one trying to be dominant

Oh. Looks like the freebie in the paper's a non-starter then, damn. The pet shop told me that if I got boy rabbit/gp combo there would be humping, assumed the same might go for 2 rabbits. Hadn't thought of fighting.

We already had a 5 month old male rabbit when we decided to get him a companion. We saw a lovely baby rabbit but discovered that it was a boy and was advised not to put the two together as they could possibly fight to the death. I went with my gut instinct though because my lovely male rabbit was as soft as a brush and so laid back and I knew that he would not hurt his new friend. So we brought our little baby home and the first thing that my older rabbit did was try to hump the little fellow on his head. The poor little thing looked really dishevelled but he just laid there and let big boy get on with it. We decided to get our older rabbit neutured and that solved the problem. However when my younger bunny got a bit older he got his revenge and started to hump his older companion so we had him neutured too. They now live happily together without any problems but I suspect that my story could possibly be the exception to the rule as I remember having guinea pigs as a child and I once put two males together and the fight was terrible, I've still got the scars where I was bitten trying to seperate them. My advice would be that if you have a rabbit and are considering getting another, have your existing one neutured first before you introduce their new companion. Its probably easier if the new companion is a baby rather than an adult. That scenario seems to have worked for us (apart from having bunny neutured first). Good luck.

hi we breed and show rabbits and currently have 21 you shouldnt put 2 male rabbits together that havent grown up together as they will fight the best bet if you want 2 rabbits is either to keep them in seperate hutches and let them out seperatly if it has to be 2 males or if they have to be in the same hutch get one of each and get them neutered then it will be ok. hope this helps if you need more help please email me [email protected] out of interest what age are your kids

We had two boy rabbits - brothers, they nearly killed each other. We then had to get them a girlfriend each and ended up with a lot more rabbits than we planned!

2 girl rabbits will hump away anyway, rabbits are rabbits, you get 2 of any combination and they'll hump hump hump - honestly!

2 boys would probably not be a good combo, will fight constantly and thats not fair on them
