I wanted to bump this to give parents who are concerned about the new KS2 SATS a chance to sign this petition online. There are currently 62,500 signatures, at 100,000 signatures the petition will be considered for debate in parliament.

I am all for raising standards, but there are aspects of the new KS2 SATS that seem ridiculous and need to be reassessed e.g. the marking down of children without joined up handwriting regardless of the content of that handwriting, meaning a highly literate leftie without a cursive style would not even marked as 'working towards' . This is addition to the fact that bright English language university students around the country have achieved a low score on the grammar paper, because it tests mechanics of the English language that even they are not familiar with.
