An X-ray or A X-ray?

Well...A X-Ray sounds wrong...but by the rule that An is only used if the next word starts with a vowel....well...than A X-ray should be correct?

Help!!!!!!!!!!

I thought that you also used 'an' if the word sounded like it started with a vowel, as in X-Ray.

That would be poncy people who pronounce it very French-style, so it sounds like "a notel", with a silent "h".

cattj...possibly stupidity...well..that would be one possible explaination......but I like AMumInScotland's theory better
