See also ‘loveeeeee’.
I see these sometimes in contexts like IG comments or hashtags. They make me twitch. The time has come for me to have a pedantic moan about them. 😑
I can see that people might want to use elongated versions of ‘nice’ and ‘love’ for emphasis. But in my head, if I were to stretch out e.g. the word ‘nice’ I’d stretch out the middle vowel, as you sometimes hear people do in speech.
What irritates me is that I don’t know whether these versions are messed-up attempts to render that sound (annoyingly illogical), or whether they’re truly meant as a jokey addition and elongation of a final ee sound. As if you were saying ‘Nicey!’ and dragging out the second syllable (just plain annoying).
I need to know which way to be annoyed. It’s killing me. Help
