The yr 2 teacher is a young and keen chap.

I want to give him the benefit of the doubt but this is so wrong to my eyes!

Enhancing instructions with adjectives and double adjectives.

Example.
Next take the paint out the shed

Next take the brown paint out of the old, dusty shed

Teacher wants children to use a comma between the old and dusty.

Now to me, the only place a comma lives in that sentence is after Next,

I wouldn't use a comma in any of the examples.

'Collect a massive metal pan from the noisy loud kitchen' requires no commas.

Roll up MN pedants......

Right. Well, you are correct.

But can you picture yourself explaining your rules to a group of 7 year olds? The need to learn through structures and rules. They need those before they can learn to break them. A good rule is that you should separate adjectives with commas. They need to be taught the purpose of adjectives and the purpose of commas AND get familiar with those rules.

I asked my 9yr old, she said they are taught to put it between.
She also noted it missing from Next, but thanks to our view, I can see the difficulty of teaching commas!
