He has loads of toys as they were passed to him from ds1 also grandparents treat sometimes etc. Obviously have to get him something its his birthday after all but totally stuck on what. Same applies to christmas just a month later!!! Any ideas anyone?

Do you really "obviously" have to get him anything?

He's one, he won't know. As you say he has loads of toys already, does he/you/the environment really need any more? I know it sounds pious, and it is, but kids have so much these days, he'll be yelling out for presents before you know it so why not enjoy the brief peace?

I can't remember if I got dd2 anything for her first birthday or christmas. If you want to buy him something why not get a framed poster or piece of furniture or something similar for his room that will last, make your house look pretty and not clutter it up even more?

Last year i got both ds's some nice childrens china...hungry caterpillar plates and the peter rabbit stuff.

Obs they were too young but something longer term that hopefully they will feel is special when they grow up (??)

Then just got small stocking stuff on top.

For ds2 this year i have got him some of those TOMY shape sorter eggs in an egg box...£5. plus i will do a small stocking.

This is spooky do you know me? Yes our house is full with loads of clutter and its only small! Just feel the need to treat him like ds1 and mark his birthday somehow I suppose but you have a good point!

We didn't actually get ds anythign fo rhis first birthday as he was getting so much from the other relatives and needed nothing. We went on a day out instead - it was lovely and we still enjoy the photos. It was important to mark the occassion as you say, but not more clutter!

We got ds this bike for his 1st birthday back in May. Its good as you can adapt it as they get older, has a handle to push them etc.

one of the best presents ever for ds2 was a beach ball...no joking this is his favourite thing and at 20mths he still adores it. he plays with his big brother with it it doesn't hurt anyone or damage anything and he rolls around on top of it and hugs it to death!
