1st Birthday Party Ideas and Top Tips......

Hi there
It will be DS 1st birthday in about 4 weeks and i am completely at a loss as to what to do for him.....

We have a reasonable size house, but a huge family so it will be a very tight squeeze to get everyone in... plus i really don;t fancy the mess.

I thought maybe i could hire out a baby/toddler adventure play area for a couple of hours but will the adults still come ie grandparents, aunts etc that don;t have kids....??
Will they still think they can move on from the adventure play to my house for tea.....??

So what can i do to make his 1st ever birthday special and fit everyone in?

Any top tips, wise words.....???

DH has completely left it up to me to do what i want but i feel as though its got to be really special as its his first birthday and all that...

Anyway, thanks for reading my ramblings thus far and i can;t wait to hear all your ideas

to be honest im saving all the big things till his older and able to enjoy my ds is 4 next april so will do more then

for his 1st we simply had few people he was so over whelmed and tired and grumpy after short while he had party music and cake and enjoyed it but would have been silly to do more as he wasnt interested in presents just the packaging it was simple fun cost next to no money and perfevt as it would make no difference to them what you do

i would say do something small and not so costly it gets very overwhelming and becomes more about us wanting to do this amazing extravagant party when they will know no difference i'll save that for the next birthday

for his 2nd we had garden party with bouncy castle he loved it more quiet afair for his 3rd but he still really enjoyed it you dont have to do much as long as they have fun and get pampered thats what its all about

we had a quiet day at home with family free to pop in during the day so they didn't all turn up at once, had a cake, helium balloons which dd loved and music, tbh dd fell asleep and we carried opening hr presents as there were so many, took all day to open them and she got fed up, too much excitement, i wish i had saved some for next day or so. if your family is massive why not hire a local hall/church hall and just take your own food there. play centres are expensive and grandparents atc may not all want to go.

Don't bother on DS's account, he won't remember it and probably won't particularly appreciate it at the time. Have a nice family get-together. Take photos.

IMO the same applies at age 2.

we had a party in the garden and just invited everyone we knew, there were some kids there too. we catered for the adults! wine and beer. ds had a great time and so did all the adults.
the weather this year is rubbish though. for his 3rd in 2 weeks, i've just hired the village hall which was only £25 for the afternoon.

It's my daughters 1st birthday in a month, i've hired a little church hall as she has so many little friends and i've looked into hiring soft play but it's so expensive!! I'm thinking about taking a large quilt with toys, playmats etc. But need some inspiration as to what else i can. Any ideas welcome. Thanks x
