This year my ds doesn't want a party (oh thank GOD) and we are taking him out for a special day instead. He is having his cousins and a friend from school round on Saturday though, for a birthday 'tea'.

Since there are only a few kids I think I'd quite enjoy making it nice for them, has anyone done a birthday tea lately and have any bright ideas? Food/decoration? It's going to last about two hours only.

If it's nice weather I think the play will take care of itself as we'll chuck them out in the garden to play with water etc. But any ideas for indoor games just in case the play doesn't 'flow'?!

TIA

What about letting them make their own pizzas? the number and age makes it doable. Put out little dishes of tomato puree/pasata; ham/tuna/onion/mushroom/pineapple/sweetcorn etc etc etc plus grated cheese. Up to you whether you make or buy the base (or use naan bread). Doubles up as an activity as well as knowing they will like what they eat cos they choose the topppings.
