aeroplane/flying party?

DS is adamant that his 4th birthday will involve a cake shaped like a plane, so I have decided to go with this for a vague theme - does anyone have any ideas for food along these lines?

I've started making a pinterest board with ideas, but all I seem to find is aeroplane shaped cookies, which is pretty obvious.

Has anyone else done a plane party?

thanks :)

Wilton do a plane shaped cake tin and there's plenty of ideas here and here. This is fab too!

Are you going to send out tickets as invitations? Little suitcases for party bags? Meals on airline trays?

ooh, thank you!

I'd love to do tickets as invitations, that's a great idea. suitcases as party bags is a bit out of my budget though, sadly - I may get some storage suitcases for 'styling' the house, which DS can then use for storage afterwards!

not sure about meals on trays - I thought maybe some foil trays from the 99p shop with a sandwich, some pretzels, grapes, and a fruitshoot type of drink then popcorn/crisps/cookies on the table for them to help themselves.

I thought we'd do 2 or 3 party games - pass the parcel (have a toy plane from 99p shop as a prize!), paper plane throwing game (cut holes in large box, give child paper planes to throw through them!), and maybe pin the propellor on the plane if I can be arsed! need to keep costs relatively low, but that all sounds feasible on a budget, I think?

I hope you dress as a flight attendant on the day, OP!

That sounds fun.

You could get them making paper planes, and have those polystyrene gliders for party bags. Simon says with aircraft parking paddles?

These look good:

Maybe chewing gum not so good for 4 year olds :/Could maybe replace with tiny choc bar or individual wrapped biccy.

they look cool - might try them with wee kinder choc bars, I'm sure DS will be a willing tester :o
