yes it's too hot.

In this weather, just a nappy and a couple of blankets is nice.

grobags are not for summer, really, they keep a lot of heat in.

I'm dressing my 12 week old in a nappy, short sleeve vest and 1-tog sleeping bag. Depending on how humid it is later I might ditch the vest.

Depends on how hot your house is TBH.

2.5 tog grobags are fine with a long sleeved vest/bodysuit at 20 C, our house is about 18 C at night at the moment so my 15 week old is wearing a sleepsuit with his, but my friends house is about 22 C so her's is wearing a long sleeved bodysuit with a 1 tog grobag.

You can get 0.5 tog growbags in John Lewis, if that is any use

i think it actually gets quite cold at night still

i like using blankets rather than grobags because then you can add/take away as necessary

my 11 month old is wearing a babygro and 2 blankets, and i nrmally add another blanket when i go to bed

This bumpto3 link gives info on room temperature and what to wear with the various togs of grobag. Basically a 2.5tog is for rooms up to 20 degrees so if your room stays above that during the night them 2.5tog plus layers of clothing is going to be too much. If your room is between 20-24 degrees then a 1tog would be better and if it gets to 26 degrees then 0.5tog is better.

ye sthat bumpto3 webiste is good.

does sound like too much but depends on temp.
my 6 mo old is in long sleeved vest and 1 tog sleeping bag, its 22 degrees.

better to underdress and wake up cold than overdress and overheat... (linked to SIDS)

good thread - thanks!

I was really annoyed.... went to john lewis and wanted a 1 tog babybag for bed and they were £22 - £30!!!!!!!!!!!!

They had some 2.5 tog reduced to £11. Ironic in this weather or tactical measure?

Primark have 1.5tog for £7!!! I got three!

I've put my DS in long sleeved vest and 1.5tog babybag on with one thin cover - room is 18 - 20.

thanks for the advice & weblink everyone, i have got a little room temperature gauge and my bedroom normally stays about 21 degrees but fink it probably gets colder during the nite.

I'm just paranoid I overheat her! but I only put two blankets on her last nite instead of grow-bag and she was wakened on & off from about 3am but for the past 2 months she has been sleeping right through.

just wondered if she was maybe too cold with just the two blankets? and thats what has caused her to be restless?

Yes she might be a bit cold, try 3 blanket layers instead. DS always used to wake up when he was cold, and he liked it hotter than the recommendation. I do think it's worth keeping them as cool as possible though - I'd rather have a baby who wakes through being cold a few times while I make that adjustment than a baby who overheats I had DS in a 3-sided cot right by the bed though so it was really easy to monitor his temperature and adjust blankets etc.

I have put 20 month DD to bed in a long sleeved pyjama top and will put a 1 tog gro-bag on her when I go to bed at 11pm. Her room was 28 degrees earlie so way too hot for any gro-bag at that point.

I've always followed the bumptothree advice and would stick with a 1 tog in this weather. We also have a 0.5tog for really hot days.
