I have just got back from having taken my kids out for a ride on their bikes and am wondering why did I bother? It took me ages to get all their stuff in the car drive down to the cycle path along a lovely coastal walk, get them and their stuff out of the car (you get the picture). DC2 was perfectly happy being pushed along but DC1 moaned and moaned and moaned about how tired she was feeling etc etc. So I took them back to the car, reloaded their stuff and have driven home. I think I will go mad!!!!

Does anyone else feel this frustrated with their kids? I am left feeling angry, resentful and wanting to get away from it all!

Kids now in front of tv having a snack and a juice! Why do I bother!!!!1

lol i fell like this all the bloody time remember that the alternative would be being stuck indoors with them though how old are they? my dd1 (6) has leapt forwards recently in terms of thinking of other people as well as herself, holidays, trips out etc. are all becoming much easier. well, they would be if dd2 hadn't just hit the terrible twos...

you will all look back fondly on these times, honest!

I often find myself saying, "I'm never going anywhere again."

I know it feels absolutely hopeless, but in the end you are achieving something. You are giving them an idea of what a sensibly spent day looks like. I used to be like this- and I grew up totally dependent on those countryside walks that I used to whinge like mad about.

I am pleased to hear other people find it so frustrating ISWIM.

Although I take them out for their benefit it is also to save my sanity and I wonder what is the point sometimes. I would love to just stay home and put my feet up but my youngest is not really of an age to sit and watch a film whereas my oldest child would.

I want a day off from all this moaning......

Have you shouted "you are so ungrateful, there are children whose parents never take them anywhere you know?" Yet?

I did Monday. Brilliant start to half term

Last half term, I trudged to the local soft play area. In the rain. With dd2 all snuggly in her buggy under her rain cover and dd1 with every sort of waterproof going, wellies, mac, umbrella, rain hat....

Me, I was in my only flimsy coat, unable to carry an umbrella due to pushing the buggy.

Dd2 slept the whole way through the soft play area. And on the way home dd1 announced that wished she had never gone because the acrcades at the beach are much better

And yes, I did tell her she was ungratefull and some children don't even have parents, never mind parents who take them out places

This week, everyone has been ill. So no daytrips

It is not just me then. I have stopped short of saying 'you are so ungrateful' (i don't think they would understand the words although they may get the meaning!)

I keep being told by those much older and wiser (and whose kids have left home) to enjoy these years as they pass so fast!

No matter what I plan for my dd - it's never good enough and she'll always want to do it differently!

Just told her to go away and not bother me til I'm ready as I'd planned to make Halloween jellies with her this afternoon - got smoothies to make them really red and blood-like and jelly spiders and bats to put in - she announced she wanted to make cakes instead this afternoon and jellies tomorrow. Couldn't be bothered to try to explain about them having to set in the fridge overnight so need to do them today - have lost the will now.

Why do kids seem incapable of appreciating anything. It's like living with someone who's constantly knit-picking at your plans all the time as they think they always have a better alternative. AARGHHHHH!!!!!! Sometimes I feel like saying, right up yours then - do what you like. So frustrating.
