As the title says really, help. I don't know what to do, she has been at school nearly a week and a half now and on 3 days the teacher has taken me to one side to let me know that DD has been rude, stroppy, refused to do as she is told etc.
I don't let her get away with this behaaviour at home although she does try it on with shouting at us. At home we refuse to listen and wait until she speeks politely to us. With stroppy behaviour and refusing to do as she is told she usually ends up being sent to her room to calm down and the has to appologise.
I have now idea how to stop this behaviour at school though. Obviously I insist she appologises to the teacher and I remind her that we talk politely to other people but what else can I do? Please some one give me some helpful advise before she gets into more trouble at school. (I am a teacher by the way and am more than capable of controling my pupils at school, its very embarasing that my DD won't behave well)

An interesting post, I have a teacher friend in a similar situation with her DD and she is also struggling to know how to deal. I wonder if the fact that you are a teacher gives her more confidence in class i.e. she's not 'scared' of the teacher becasue mums one IYSWIM?

Thanks for that I hope she's not scared of the teacher but I see what you are saying. So what should I do? Help!

You can't stop this behaviour at school, that's what the teacher has to do. Apart from telling her not to, what else does she expect you to do?

TBH so long as you are supportive on the school at home then really I think it's up to the school to sort it out!

Is she very successful interraction wise, is she clever?

I worked with a family who had a very smart, very lovely little boy but he was so damned good at everything he freaked out when in a situation he had no previous experience of.

Do you see where I'm going with this?!

Yes sorry I don't mean scared (hence the '') I suppose to most kids the teachers has this mysterious authority but if that's your norm at home then perhaps you don't have the same adoration / respect? This is coming out wrong but you know what I mean!

Agree with coco, what can you do? Not much in reality, yes you can say she mustn't behave like that but it is the teachers role to control the behaviour - you can't do it, you're not there.

Ok I'm doing the right thing then by telling her not to etc. I feel so silly not knowing what to do. I have been teaching for 11years!

Hobbgoblin, yes I think she is very clever. I think she is much more intellegent than either myself or DH which is quite scary.
