what age do you recommend a child should be for a camping break in this country

DS was 10 months when we first went, took a travel cot (two days later he worked out how to get out of it). It was a great sucess (apart from the cot jumping)there's nothing to stop you going this summer.

We took a travel cot/playpen, his winter weight Grobag, and plenty of pyjamas, blankets etc to layer him up if he needed it (getting hard to remember!).

Also took cold water steriliser, Milton tablets, zillions of wipes, small boxes of milk. And the ikea highchair, could have fed him in pushchair to be honest but he was messy at that stage.

ANY age, I would say.
We took DS for one night last year when he was 15 months, and it all worked out really well. He slept all night in his travel cot, all cosily bundled up in a child's sleeping bag, which we tied at his feet so he wouldn't slip down into it.

I'd say more than about 6 to 8 weeks old. We took dd3 at 6 months (and then again ever year since) and ds last year at 7 months. Both were breastfed (ds had started blw but not doing much) which meant less equipment needed. We took the travel cot but I think both ended up co-sleeping in with me in the big sleeping bag.

we took dd last summer at 6 months. pushchair for feeding, travel cot for sleeping with lots of layers, sterilising tablets, lots and lots of wipes. she loved it.

we took DTs camping in France when they were 8-9 months, they loved it and we had a remarkably relaxing time too

We went when DS was about 6 months, he loved it and slept better than at home! Then again this year when he was about 16 months.

All my 3 went camping at a month old, and regularly since. It's easy with a small baby, they don't run away or get muddy rolling around the place. we just coslept so didn't need a travel cot. Just put the baby by one of us.

Teething on a campsite isn't good though, dd2 grizzled for a week camping once at 8 months, and at the end we realised she had her first 3 teeth. I'd thought she didn't like camping. That was a sleep-deprived holiday. But that could happen on any holiday with an 8 month old, not just camping.

Chic that depends on the tent! And possibly on the cot. Ours does... but we did buy a bigger tent when we had DS (the old one was only for 2).

We took DS on two camping trips this year. On the first one he was 6.5mths and on the second one 7.5 mths and he loved it! So we are going again next week.
