I've just cried my eyes out watching the lunchtime news hearing that this evil man held a knife to the throat of Abigail's little boy. I don't know the woman but for some reason I feel such an incredible sense of familiarity with her. Such horrible things happen all of the time but this story has really affected me. Maybe its because enjoying a walk with your child is such an innocent pastime and for this man to destroy that is horrendous. I hope she's soon recovering and can help put this bastard behind bars. Anyone else feeling the same?

I just read about the assailant holding a knife to the boy's throat - what an evil person he must be.Apparently after he stabbed Abigail he hen tipped the buggy ,having put the child back in it, onto her - WFT? I can't imagine how frightened she must have been, poor poor woman. At least she has a supportive family behind her. I hope to God they catch the person who did this.

Yes, and i keep welling up everytime i hear something about it. Like you i feel a strong sense of familiarity with her - I'm pregnant with a one year old, even look quite like her and come from Catholic family. I walk dd around country lanes all the time. Cannot help but think how it could have been me!

Just feel really heavy hearted about it - i'm amazed that anyone could do such a thing. Even more amazed by her bravery though.

I think one of the most awful things about her statement was the fact that she knew he was chasing her. The horror she must have felt must have been too terrible. Everyone knows that awful feeling you have in the pit of your stomach when you think someone is following you but to have someone chasing you down a lane when you have your child with you in a buggy....

I just hope they find the drug fuelled maniac quickly before he does something like this again.

The familiarity is that, in all honesty, it could have been any one of us... female or male.

In a safe village, in a good area, on a lovely day. No knowledge of the attacker, no enemies (from the statement), with child in buggy, with child in belly. It literally could have been anyone, and, quite possibly not a single thing that she could have done differently.

I also keep thinking about Abigail. I hope she gets some recovery in her movement. It's too horrific, not just that it could have been any of us, but that it was anyone at all.

Sometimes random things happen and they seem so senseless, like the murder of Jill Dando. So bloody pointless it makes you want to cry

Very much so sally, I think it is the familiarity of all of us walking our toddlers in buggies and how random this is, it could have been one of us!

I think Abigail herself is an amazing woman, the description she managed to give and the time she has spent with detectives was unbelievable for someone who has gone through that horror - I hope she makes a good recovery.
