What do your children call 'girls bits'?

My daughter has started asking what her 'girls bits' are called, and is becoming more aware of that area of her body now she is potty trained. Unfortunately I don't know the best answer. There seem to be so many terms used, some of which seem really stupid. Its so much easier with boys - there is nothing wrong with willy!
Can anyone help me out here?

We go for fanny and willy here. I wanted a girl equivalent of willy. Not 100% happy with it but did not want to go down the penis and vulva route.

My 3.5 year old still calls the whole area her bottom. Why not just call them "girls bits" for now. IMO anything that won't make you cringe when it's yelled across a playground/supermarket/Grandma's house is fine!

They call them their vaginas. And before anyone says anything, I know that it is technically incorrect, and they know which bit if their anatomy is actually the vagina but it is a convenient shorthand and better than minnie or foofoo or whatver godawful euphemism they could be using.

My daughter calls hers her 'penny' No idea why although i think it has something o do with someone confusing her saying belly, when she was learning to talk.

So now at 4 it's always her penny.

I love the bit in kindergarten cop where the girl stands up and says "boys have a penis and girls have a vagina"

We call them Fanny and willy

Though sometimes dd1 calls it her crack (not sure where she got that from)

Fanny.

They are boys, though.

If I had a dd I'd go for something like "your bits" or FB (short for front bum )

Personally, I am rather fond of volvo.

bitsy/fanny/mimi

We tend to use bitsy which arose from 'bits' i.e. me saying "have you dried your bits & pieces properly" etc

"Bits"
I know of 'mini' and 'wendy' but thats not for us.
Sometimes we extend to 'girly bits'
Anyone tempted to start teaching 'fanjo'?

Bits.
DH and I were talking about this last night - he'd heard of a little girl calling hers a "Mary". ???

I overheard a woman in the public toilets in Southwold referring to her breasts as "bad boys".

This was to a 2 year old child.

Not hugely relevant to the thread, but it made me feel uncomfortable.

What does everyone else think?

fanny & willy
I think fanny sounds loud, proud and positive if you know what i mean . Then I can still explian what a vagina/anus/vulva are from technical POV.

Fanny and willy, but came a cropper when DS then aged 5 used those names when talking with a little girl friend, whose mother thought it highly inappropriate.

They now know penis and vagina, but only use them in the context of a sex-ed type chat at home/school - they know all sorts of other highly inappropriate names now they are both in the juniors!

No, we were on holiday.

I love it too. It's like being trapped in the Boden catalogue!

Bobbiewickham, agree with you re breasts and bad boys

I talk to dd1 in French, she calls her vagina/vulva her 'zezette' as per other French kids we know. In English, she usually says 'my bottom - at the front, you konw, my zezette' even though I loathe the term 'front bottom' and have never used it.

When she asks me the English words, I will teach her vulva and vagina. Though I may well mention fanjo too - she's aware of there being a range of words people use for things, and she does enjoy 'funny words' as well as 'proper words'.

Not that 'fanjo' is improper, perish the thought....

Fanny.

Bizarrely I have a friend who calls her breasts bad boys (sometimes bad lads) and her fanjo her Mary. She's not said it infront of my 2yo though!

Just think how few threads there would be on Mumsnet if we were only allowed one thread ever on any one subject.

Maybe we should make a list of all the words Mumsnetters have ever used for vulva.
Offhand I can recall
Fanny
Minnie
Front bottom
Foofoo
Penny
Tuppence
Mary
Flower
Bits
Fanjo
Mimi

You seem to have some time on your hands, Cod, you can fill in the blanks.
