Mine is 8.5 months old and eats everything off the floor, she loves pulling handfuls of hair from the dog too and munching on that.

When I feed her there are dog hairs on her food where I think i've got it all off but haven't.

It builds up their immune system

Typical at that age. We spend 9 months worrying about what we eat in case we pass any nasty chemicals over to baby. The next 9 months sterilising everything in sight.

From the time they are mobile to age 3 they stuff anything and everything in their mouths, the dirtier and germier the better..

My DS 22 months has his moments even when we are watching him really closely he has his moments. He'll eat mud, sand, slugs, worms, (all made worse by the fact we keep free range chickens that poo in the garden). Stuff out of the bin and nappy rash cream are other definate favourites... Spit that out seems to be our family catch phrase.

My DS is 18 months old and I am still constantly saying, "Don't eat that!" to him.

I have never been one to Dettol everything in sight and firmly believe that a bit of dirt does no harm. I quite often forget to wash his hands before meals or to wipe them if he's touched something dirty/germ-ridden and I can honestly say that in 18 months all he's had is one cold. So it must be doing something beneficial to his immune system!

we only have one bin in the house now (in the kitchen behind the stairgate!) so DS (also 8months) has learnt how to open the nappy bin and get the dirty nappy bins out - it takes him less time to do this than it takes me to take his clean clothes into his room 10paces away!)

My 15 month old DD has in the last few months eaten:

*the cotton buds from the bathroom bin (obviously a popular amuse bouche with the toddler set)
*some holly berries
*a large baby handful of sudocreme
the little silicone sachet thing that was in *a shoe box
*at least two slugs that I'm aware of
*several handfuls of cat nibbles, washed down with water from the cat's bowl.

She is robustly healthy and has only eve had one tummy upset when she was still being exclusively BF!

Don't worry too much...my DS went through a stage of trying to eat cat biscuits.

As you can see here it's pretty normal behaviour!

My son ate bird poo once and would frequently share food with the dogs.

OMG-I so wish my son's ex partner was as relaxed as you guys. She has left him & taken their daughter for so much less! Had she so much as TOUCHED a dog/cat bisuit she would have been taken to A & E straight away.

My son has eaten any food or crumbs that he can find on the floor, mud from outside, a baby handful of E45 (that was an interesting nappy), and regularly drinks his bathwater. Nothing wrong with him so far lol!

My DD found a used condom in the bathroom bin when she was a baby [vomit]
When she was 15 months old she painted the whole bathroom, including the sink, the toilet bowl AND the cat with my mascara.

ghosty!!

my dd has fished toilet roll (not used!) out the toilet, eaten so much sand, picks up any old crumbs of food/un cooked pasta/peas that she may find on the floor!!

why did we bother sterilising EVERYTHING again!!??

My ds is 13 months and still loves a grope down the toilet if I don't shut the door. He always wants to take my things and put them down the loo and then fish them out and chew on them, gross!!!! Revolting creatures.
