My ds is just six.

He watches Milkshake in the morning for about an hour and that's basically his TV viewing during the week. Things like Peppa Pig, Thomas, etc.

At weekends he does watch a film or two and has seen every single Star Wars film including the last one that's a 12 cert

Also watches Pirates of the Carribbean which I also think are too grown up for him but am outvoted by DH and DS

Other than that he has lots of disney films.

He doesn't watch Dr Who - too scary, for older kids IMO.

HTH?

Mainly Tom and Jerry, he went through a stage of Hi-5 but that seems to have passed. He doesn't really watch a lot of TV though.

He wants to watch Pokemon, Justice League etc. We have banned them, also any 12 films (except Superman Returns which he saw at the cinema as a 12a), loves Dr Who.

mine (twins) still love things like Tikkabilla, but also like Scrapheap Challenge, anything with tractors, Dad's Army, Wallace and Grommit, a dvd we have about a border collie pup.

Generally they don't watch much tv though - not every day - when they do it is maybe up to an hour at a stretch (they ask more often than they actually get to watch - we generally have a no tv in the morning rule).

Thanks, was interested as I was wondering if things like Peppa Pig etc he was outgrowing and whether I should encourage him to watch other things, so a few weeks ago I opened up his viewing a bit but quicky narrowed it again after seeing how Justice League had an effect all of a sudden on his playing, actually what did it was when I had to bath the baby unexpectedly and he caught Horrid Henry.. awful, I tell you, he found it very funy but one can't get away with similar behaviour to copy!!

He doesn't watch much tv either, I have the one hr rule too, and as we are back to what he was watching (with the odd nature programme at the weekend) this is why I was curious!

DS2 doesn't watch much, but likes some stuff on CBBC like Hider in House, also likes Gladiators and sports. Although this weekend the DC dug out an old Wiggles DVD and were entranced LOL. More interested in playing on the Wii (Lego Star Wars) TBH.

Ds1 turns 5 in a month. Watches 30-45 minutes a day. Recently got into Power Rangers, Dinosaur King and Pokemon. In past has really gone for Tom and Jerry and Superdog. Likes Spongebob and George in the Jungle on the odd occasion they've been on. Still enjoys an hours Milkshake on a Sunday which is younger stuff imo.

Mine are nearly 7 and nearly 5 - ds1 has just 'discovered' cbbc and loves in partiuclar roman mysteries. ds2 just kind of tags along with what ds1 has. they are both keen on wildlife programmes, as ds1 tells playdates proudly, 'we've got all the David Attenborough's', not really aware that they might not have as much cachet as, say, Doctor Who...

ds1(5.5) watches a mixture of Playhouse disney..Handy Manny, little Einsteins etc(with ds2), CITV (Horrid Henry), Milkshake on a morning, Jetix (V restricted to small amounts of power rangers and GAlactic Football), Suite Life of JAck and COdy occasionally on Disney and some Peppa Pig/Franny's Feet/SUper WHy/Timothy goes to School.
As for "adult" TV, the only thing he has very recently started watching is "You've been framed" which he thinks is hilarious and x-factor (ditto).
The DVDs he watches are all Disney types. Hasn't watched any of the Doc WHo/Spiderman/Pirates variety - he gets spooked by Chitty CHitty Bang BAng, so we're in no hurry!!!

DS1 is 5.1 and he watches Lazytown, Scooby Doo, Tom & Jerry, Backyardigans, Roary the Racing Car. He loves Peppa Pig, despite protesting that other shows are too babyish, I don't get it I hate that show, Peppa has such an annoying voice.

He would watch more stuff on Boomerang if I let him, but I think he is too young for it. Plenty of time and all that
