What "routine" for DD1 going to afternoon nursery and DD2 at home

My DD1 is going to afternoon nursery in September 5 days a week -12.45pm -3.15pm and I have 1 year old DD2 as well. I wanted to have quality time with DD2 and take her to toddler or other activity groups etc whilst DD1 is at nursery but this will clash with her usual afternoon nap. If you are in similar situation what routine have you found that works?

I have done this and enjoyed the peace and quiet while DD1 was at nursery and DD2 asleep. We are changing to morning nursery next week so DD2 will get some quality time with me.

When I nannied for a family with one at afternoon nursery and one at home, I alternated doing toddler groups, trips out, activities in the morning with both of them, doing an early lunch at 12 and then nursery/bed for the children so I could batch cook meals, and catch up on any chores.

And some days I just put youngest to bed for her 2 hour nap in the morning - eldest and I had time together, and then woke youngest up before lunch, gave them both lunch and then headed out for the afternoon.

How far in the nursery? Can you walk it? Could dd2 sleep in the buggy while you walk to nursery then to playgroup?

Thanks for messages, I can walk to nursery (5 mins) and I suppose DD2 could sleep in buggy as I walk to afternoon activity/toddler group etc but that wouldnt give DD2 a great sleep but I suppose I could do as Dynamicnanny suggests and alternate so some days longer sleep at home, some days short sleep and activity.
Dynamicnanny - did you find that the youngest could adapt to a routine where her sleep times were different on different days?
