Potty usage turning into a game... help!

My LO is only 20 months, young to be using a potty but he's been weeing in it for a couple of months.

Over the last few days, it has become a bit of a game. He wees, claps, shows mummy the potty, mummy waddles off to empty it (7+ mths pregnant), mum puts potty back.. 5 mins later we repeat the process. I've emptied it 18 times in the past hr... its getting beyond a joke.. If I leave it he picks it up and spills it.. what can I do?

He's also started to use the wrong words for things even though he knows the right ones.. I'm suddenly daddy or baby not mummy... is he too young to be winding me up deliberately?

DS2 went through a phase of calling me daddy, about the same age I think.
I'm sure someone will be along with a solution to your potty problem.
I printed (and laminated incase of spills) some wheels to stick on the side of his potty and made him a little stearing wheel to encourage him to actually sit on the potty for a bit longer.

When he first started using the potty, I could ask him to do more wee wee and he'd keep trying until his bladder was really empty but now he stops and refuses to do more only to return to the potty and do a teaspoonful 5 mins later.

if you really want him to be potty trained then you'll have to stick with it I'm afraid.

he likes the positive attention, so he does it as ofen as he can to get it.

I guess so, I just wish he'd do a bit more each time and take a bit longer in between.

I was hoping that someone might have an idea on how to encourage him to empty his bladder properly each time so that we don't wear a path to the loo each day.

you could teach him to stand up and use the toilet? that way you don't even have to take him

You may laugh but after a weekend following his daddy round he did try to use the potty standing up. Missed completely but the look of concentration on his face was adorable.

I know I should count my blessings that I have a 20 month old who is nearly potty trained. I think I just lack patience this week as I'm feeling pretty grotty.
