Why are you concerned about him not liking or playing with certain children? Do you like and want to spend time with every random person in your age group?
Help him to understand that he doesn't have to like everyone, or play with everyone, but that he does have to be kind and considerate to everyone.
If he was bullying or being a consistent problem, school would tell you. So until that point, i would just focus on respecting his boundaries, teaching him the same, and emphasising kindness.
DS5 is in his first year of primary school, he's coming home full of chat about everything but sometimes I don't quite like what I'm hearing e.g. he occasionally talks about not liking or playing with certain children. It's also difficult as while he is chatty, he isn't always the most coherent so it's difficult to get the full story about anything from him. I'm trying to teach him to be kind but I also don't want to react to what he is telling me in such a way that puts him off telling me all about his day, his little worries etc. How should I approach this?
