I'm off to Club Med Metaponto (Italy) tonight with my 15 year old son, a bit of mother/son bonding! (See teenage angst!!)

DH is staying at home to feed our three Burmese cats and earn a rust to pay for the holiday, our main one is at the end of August but DS has 9 weeks summer hols, so had to do something with him!

DD(16) is in Peru for a month on the World Challenge, she phoned last night and told us that she had a baby leopard sleeping on her bed every night!

Typical that the weather here is going to be good next week, well, I have got 9 slushy paperback novels to read by the pool. See you all next week!

I've got a zapper from Boots, just back from Lanzarote and got about 8 bites on my lower legs. I react quite badly and used the zapper which apparently disperses the histamine. What a brilliant thing it is, I just used it when they itched and it went away pretty quickly. Came home Wed evening and they're all healing nicely now.

I think it was about £8 and you get 2000 clicks, bargain! R

Oh, that sounds gadget sounds just brilliant! Can someone tell me the proper name, please? Then I can get someone to send me one, as I'm fed up with being mozzie food.

I've had bites on my feet and the pain and burning is so intense, it's really making me miserable. Even oral plus topical antihistamines don't work and I've had to use an icecube to get some relief - not very practical when I'm out!! DD2 has also had extensive impetigo from infected bites.

Back from Club Med Metaponto, where it rained most of the week! The tennis courts were under 6 inches of water, too rough to sail, but nonetheless, DS and I survived a week together! When the sun came out it was really hot. I read 6 paperback books!

We both agreed that Metaponto is not the best Club Med we have been to, and wouldn't go again. The standards seem to have dropped, the rooms were pleasant and large, but the food was very cafeteria style. No short order chefs at breakfast, all ready prepared and kept hot (luke warm mostly). The entertainment was a bit sad except for finale night!

All the Brits we met had babies who all ended up with a tummy bug, (something to do with the baby club, maybe?) which then went through the whole family. Lucky for DS and I we didn't get it.

Alibubbles when we went a couple of years ago there were two bedrooms but the second was only big enough for the bunk bed and DD had a cot in the entrance hall. There wasn't nearly enough space for a family of four. The decor of the room and outside was very tired and it was a long walk to get to the pool.

I remember the food was OK then but I always find their ticket system for buying drinks and ice creams a complete rip-off.

Sorry about the rain, bloody typical! R
