Typical day with toddler

I'm just wondering what a typical day is like for you. DS is 15 months, crawling like a monkey and taking a few steps but not properly walking. I'm worried I'm not stimulating him enough or helping his development.

Wake up: 7/7.30am

Breakfast and play with toys: 7.30-9.30am

Nap: 9.30-10.30am

Activity (toddler group, class etc): 10.30-12.30pm

Lunch and play with toys: 12.30-2pm

Nap: 2-3.30/4pm

Play with toys/children tv: 4-5.30pm

Tea: 5.30-6pm

Play with toys: 6-7pm

Bedtime: 7pm

I confess I'm not sure if I should be doing more. He's quite happy to play with his toys but doesn't really want to sit to read a book with me for example (would rather just chew it!) I tend to do activities in the morning so he can have his biggest nap in the afternoon.

Does anyone have any tips?

It’s been a while since mine were that age but it seems like a pretty much normal day in the life of a toddler to me OP. What were you wanting tips on? Smile

Sounds fine. As long as he’s not sat in front of the tv all day and he’s getting out and about with you then he’ll get all the stimulation he needs. I personally found that age was more about maintaining my own sanity than anything else so I made sure we got out at least once a day just so I got to talk to other people!

You sound like you are doing a much better job than me! We're a poorly household just now so Peppa features highly!

Do you go outside much with him?

Sounds similar to mine.

What kind of playing/activities are you doing? Mine was a slow walker but quite keen on cruising so we bought him a little push-along trolley with bricks. He loved pushing that about.

He likes being read to, but if yours doesn’t are you talking to him much? I describe what DS is doing - it’s quite mentally tiring (and boring) keeping up a constant monologue, but it means he is hearing speech in context.

And yes, trips to the park! Trees are fascinating, dogs are super-exciting... lots to look at and point at.

You're describing my day exactly. I worry about not stimulating him enough too but he had such a short attention span for toys and likes to fling books.

Your could add the playground - we've just discovered swings, slides and sandpits!
