What's the score please? My DD is getting bombarded left, right and centre, and I'm struggling to keep up, re returning the favour so to speak! Also, although she is game, some are coming a bit left field, so I can't quite ever get to the point, where we re ask close buddies, or get some of her fairly close pals around!

Any tips appreciated, I'm a complete novice, and not sure whether to refuse as politely as possible?

Honestly I’d try and make 5he effort and do as many as you can. Those that you think are left field might turn out to be great friends later.

How old is she? If she's reception i would try to reciprocate all the invites and then over time they will settle and you can invite the people she actually really clicks with and spends her time in the playground with.

I would casually invite a few to meet at local park after school first, or st a local event. It allows you to get a bit of a sense of the parent and also how well your lo plays with their kids.

Good point Jilted, the left field ones were in favour back at the start of the school year, and it has been a bit cyclical, so maybe the play dates will help them to reconnect again.

My DD likes to mix with anyone and everyone, but her closest buddy is quite possessive and a one friend kind of girl, so that may have had some bearing on how the dynamics have panned out.

She is 5 years old, and I'm trying my best to reciprocate, but her social calendar is rammed. Wish I had started asking buddies around earlier in the year, but I was a bit slow to the game, doh!

There have been a few meets at the park, not to mention numerous parties, so I have a feel for the core parents, it's more the ones on the periphery, that make me just a smidge nervy. No way to gauge them?
