Forward facing pram

We have the silver cross pioneer pram which has the ability to face rear or forward (as I assume most do)

At what age did you turn your pushchair around to let the little one face the big wide world in front of them?

I didn’t really. Know that some people may find that a bit odd but I learned later that seeing your face helps them to regulate their hormones and breathing p,us we used to have a laugh

We have the same Pram. We did it in October last year, ds was 2. He kept trying to turn round to look in front of him, and he didn't seem too happy. So we turned him round and he loved it.

I turned mine around periodically at 11 months. If I am by myself, I have him face me.

We turned at around 7 months.

DD was much more interested in the world than looking at me

We have a very nosy 8 month old!

I feel baby is too young at the minute but in a few months this could be different. Forward facing may be more enjoyable!

Ive started doing it recently for 10month old DD when we’re going on walks but when we’re shopping/in busy places or she’s likely to have a nap then I keep it facing me as I like to be able to see her

I didn't either. Our lLO preferred to interact with us.

Most of the time DS (10m) faces me, but if we're just going for a walk or out somewhere (zoo etc) I'll face him forwards so he can see what's going on. I prefer him to face me though, especially if it's just the two of us as I can keep any eye on him better and we can chat.

I preferred them facing towards me, but honestly they were much happier looking out.

Our buggy wasn't too difficult to switch around (Bugaboo Bee), so there's no harm in trying it and seeing how they do.

About 6 months. My son is very nosy and loved looking about. He cried if I turned him to look at me

About 7 months. I'd switched from a cumbersome travel system to a simple buggy - I'd deliberately bought one that could face both ways. She much preferred looking at the world around her and I could still interact with her by talking about everything we could see etc. Probably depends on the child.

All those poor babies who were pushed around in outward facing prams from 6 months or thereabouts! How dysfunctional they must be now.

The advantages of a pushchair that change is that you can follow the child's lead. My 3.5 yr old still faces me, but sometimes asks to turn the pushchair around. Generally though she likes to chat to me, if she wants to see more she just walks

Our pram only does forward facing, so from birth! It's never been a problem really so I wouldn't worry about the it.

I turned my first around at about 6 months and then my seconds was always front facing because it was a double buggy. They both seem pretty stable, happy children!

My 2 yo is still parent facing, bit that's because the little sod likes to escape, and at least this way I can see her doing it.
I did attempt her world facing, but after she face planted the floor three times climbing out I decided she could face me instead.

My DS is too old for a buggy now (primary school) but I never turned his seat round to face the world. If he was facing me, I could more easily point things out to him as we walked, or see to recline his seat if he was dozing off.

We had a pushchair (not a pram) that was suitable from birth and could face either way. I'd heard that it was a good idea to have your child facing you so you could talk to them a lot more, but I turned DC1 around at the age of about 1 and a quarter, because he'd started turning around in his harness to look out of the front, an one day he got his arms free from the straps so that as soon as I undid the 5 point clip of his harness he leaned forward and fell flat on his face! Then I just did it for DC2 at about the same age because it seemed fairest. To be honest once they're that big they can turn round and see you when you talk to them, unless you've got the rain covers on. A friend's little girl never had a rearward facing pushchair, and once when they came to visit us she used ours for a walk (with my two in a double buggy) and she seemed really freaked out by it.

I have heard this comment several times but it is, in fact, an urban myth:

Babies vocalised just as much whether they were facing forward or backwards.

In reality, the study has shown that babies in rear facing prams had more interaction with their parents and slept better but they also cried more. The results were therefore controversial and inconclusive. NHS suggest that parents simply do not worry about the buggy.

8 months she went forward facing & omg what a game changer! She went from thinking her pram was the devil on wheels to absolutely loving it. I can go an hour now strolling around with her nosing without a peep! Do it! Do it now!! Lol
