How soon is too soon to take baby to meet family?

DS is three weeks old, was born at 36 weeks at 4lb 9, has put on a pound since but is still a tiny dot.
Is it safe for him to go to my parents house to meet all the family? So far people have come to see him individually, but he hasn’t been around germy kids or pets or large groups. Should I be waiting until he has had his first jabs before introducing him to the masses?

He's ready when you're ready. If you're worrying about it then keep it to small groups. He must seem particularly vulnerable at the moment as he's so little and so new and the first (?). And I say that as someone who did a school run with DD when she was only a day old (third one, had to do school run plus wanted to introduce her to the school mums - no shame, me!) There's no right or wrong answer here, just don't let yourself get pressured into anything you're not comfortable with.

I think it's safe though you could ask people to wash their hands before holding him. Say docs advise as a precaution.
Just to cut down chances of him picking anything up.
But yes, even at 8lb they seem tiny and vulnerable and you do just have to bite the bullet and take him out

Whatever you feel happy with. DS was 5 weeks early and pretty small but we took him out straight away, to people's houses, pubs, shops. To be honest I had him in a sling most of the time he was awake and was put down in his sleepyhead to sleep so opportunities for cuddles were limited. People should definitely wash their hands and obviously avoid those with colds etc. Newborns do have pretty good immunity that you've passed down to them though. You don't even have to wait for first immunisations before you take them swimming any more.

At that weight with my premature baby I started taking her places where there were groups but I wasn’t letting her be passed round everyone as i was a bit paranoid about germs etc and if people did hold her I asked them to wash their hands. I also checked no one had colds before I went where possible.

The vaccinations don't protect against any 'normal' illnesses so no point waiting for those. Just ask for clean hands and under weather people to not hold.
