I can leave DD (8) and DS (4) in the bath by themselves, but they don't wash themselves. DS manages to wash all his toys with lots of soap but thats about all!

Mine have been okay bathing themselves at those ages. At 8 have been able to wash their own hair.

Around 7/8 I find most children want to bathe themselves especially girls, becoming more body conscious!

My 3yr old insists on washing herself & her hair, not worth the fight over the flannel!

DS is 4 and can shower fairly effectively by himself, as long as I am within earshot.

Both DD & DS started having showers rathers than baths at about 6 & were soon doing it for themselves - don't think either of them has actually had a bath since.

2yo and 4yo bath together and usually dd1 ( 4) baths dd2 ( 2 ) quite funny to watch. I generally give them a soap up with their help. I have to do the hair though - not managed that yet.

DS (6) gets the soap and shampoo on alright, but not to good at thorough rinsing. So I do it!

we all want them to indepentent but just keep a near ear just uncase they might fall under the water .They have 2 get their own self of control u dont want 2 be bathing them at a tenage year ,then again they prob need it more then(lazy sods)Just think when they r little they have access to the hot taps .just be carefull.

Mine are 5 and 14 months. They bath together and I put soap on their hands and they wash themselves and I give thema bit of a going over too. I wash their hair although they often like to give each others a go. I rinse them both off.
