When did you stop breastfeeding?

When to stop breastfeeding?!
DS is 7mo and loves the boobie, just curious how long people fed their DC for and how to wean him onto daytime bottles?

Around 8 months but only due to serious biting issues. No trouble with transition to bottles as he had taken the odd expressed bottle since around 2 weeks. Has your ds taken bottles before?

Dd1 was 2.5 so never did bottles.

Dd2 I'm planning on stopping when she is about 12 months because I'm pregnant again and would like at least a few months break before I have to start again.

To be honest I'd avoid bottles if possible, it's just another thing to have to wean them off of. Milk can be given in a sippy cup.

DD is 2.3 and still breastfeeds.

Breast fed til 3 months, the introduced formula and mix fed until DD was 1 (last feed on her 1st birthday). She was down to one feed a day anyway and happily switched to cow's milk from a beaker.

6 months exclusively breast fed, with one bottle of expressed milk a day.

At 6 months, I swapped the expressed milk for formula, and fed her until just before her first birthday. We'd got down to just morning and evening feeds, with one of them each day being formula, so it was a gradual stop.

We gave her warm cows milk in a bottle for a bit, then warm milk in a breaker. Now she has it cold, much easier!

I EEd for 9 months with both of them. Most of my best mates BFed until 2.5 or 3 (years). and one has just stopped after 6 and a half years.

Ds self weaned about 1.5 years old. I was gutted tbh.

Gave up at 9 mths with first (so periods would return and I could try for no. 2). I gave formula in bottle for 3 mths until he could have cows milk as main drink (I regret it now, wish I'd carried on-my periods returned after 10mths with the other 2 despite bf-or explored alternative to giving formula)

13 mths with 2nd and 14 mths with 3rd (both then switched to cows milk in sippy cup)

Brilliant! I'm loving it and so is DS so not keen to stop! It's so much easier than bottles and sterilising ect ect ect! But I am going back to work in January, so he may have to have an alternative during the day!

DD is 2.4 and I'm weaning her off as I'm pregnant and it feels weird since the bfp. She was a total bottle refuser, took Hipp Organic from a doidy cup when I went back to work when she was 9 months. That was enough for her along with water and solid food.

I never intended to bf this long!

You may find that he just waits for you to come home. My friend's DD wouldn't drink any form of milk during the day, just water from a cup, and then cluster feed at night.

Still going at 3 years. DD went to a childminder full-time from around 14 months and got used to not having any milk during the day, but it's always been a morning and night-time thing for us.

Around 3 years both times. We are lazy so it was just convenient

By the time January comes your son will be fine with just milk morning and evening as he will be 9+ months as fine on solids and water during the day

14 months with my first and 26 months with my second. I aimed to get to a year and then thought 'got here, what now?'. If your lo is eating well they may manage without a bottle and just make up for it when you meet again. They'll be 9 months ish by then and a lot can change in that time. I'd try to play it by ear by the time you get there. My first would not have taken a bottle anyway at that age so it was less drama for her to have water in a beaker and food in the day and boobie if she was at home. Sooo easy once they're eating solids too. Well done on getting to 7 months and good luck with your return to work.

For what its worth I work nearly full time, often do nights and he just has it when I'm here and water the rest of the time

Still feeding at 2.2. I started back at work at 9 months. She'd had the a bottle of expressed milk here and there previously, and took expressed milk in a bottle or formula no problem at nursery. A few months later I stopped expressing. She refused cow's milk so she carried on with formula. I continued to bf bedtime, morning and during the night.

18 months cos I was pregnant and wanted a break. By that age dd was fine with sippy cups and we began offering them with her meals soon after weaning. Just with water at first and then later with milk and now she gets watered down juice as well.

12 months with both. Both went straight onto a sippy cup with milk.

Stopped at 2.5. DD needed a little push as I was quite ready to stop but overall I really enjoyed breastfeeding.

I went back to work full time at 10months- DD refused bottles/cups of any milk and just fed when we were together.

21 months for DD.

5 years for DS, although in fairness, the last two years of that it was like five minutes once a day, just before bed, so very negligible. On his 5th birthday he told me he didn't need it any more and that was that!
