Infested with midgies!! Help?!

I'm actually posting this for my sister. She stays on the ground floor flat and has discovered over the past two days that she has been completely infested with midgies! They are in every room in the house and in very large groups! Does anyone know of any solutions to get rid of them?! She has spoken to the local housing but they have said there is nothing they can do. Is there any solution that keeps them away? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Indoor midges? I've never heard of them. Call pest control?

I use Avon's skin so soft dry oil spray to prevent midge bites.

Could they be fruit flies rather than midgies? Midgies tend to be outside.

Close all windows. Hoover them up, empty hoover outside. Keep windows closed unless you have midge nets.
