HELP!!! 4 week old colic!

Dd is 4 weeks now and for the first 2 she's suffered mid afternoon (suspected) colic attacks everyday which we are managing with infacol and now gripe water but today has been constant and is getting worse, she is getting her wind up well but the crying is horrendous I just don't know what else to do to help her. I've tried everything to ease it, she's hot to touch but temp is normal. My usually happy baby is so distressed and it's breaking my heart. Does she need to see a doctor? If so How long do I wait until I go? I'm presuming colic but could I be wrong? Any advise would be really appreciated

Congrats on your little baby!
Are you using infacol before every feed? That's the way we got it to help out little boy, used it until he was about 3months I guess...he would scream continually from 5-10pm otherwise with hours during the day too.
I also found a dummy helped (didn't want to use one but it really has been a life saver!)
Have you tried stroking/massaging her belly (gently and below belly button with two fingers in a clockwise motion) or pedalling her legs, this can help to ease any trapped wind too.
HTH a little!

Hi, type in google infacol colic massage youtube and these massages done several times a day and before main sleep at night really helped. Also, type in you tube baby colic white noise you will see a baby sleeping on a moon, this white noise was bloody amazing and sent our daughter straight to sleep after we had ensured weeks of screaming! It takes a good 8mins first few times to kick in and boom! Has to be up loud, but make sure it's not directly aimed towards her ears. Also, before we found the white noise vid that actually works the only other thing was rocking the buggy backwards and forwards in the front room in darkness until she eventually hours later fell asleep. To give you some hope as we had it really really bad.., to the point hubby and I were in tears some times! It can go off like a switch! Literally one day after turning 3m it stopped, just like that!! Hope it gets better for you soon xx

Just re-read your post. Get her checked out just in case for reflux and silent reflux too.

The sling. In the sling & walking. Also we used dentinox, I think how disgusting it tasted distracted her from the other things bothering her. And it does get better.

Thank you all so much for your replies! DD settled finally just before 12. The legs movement worked just long enough for me to calm down. MrsPatrickDempsey Thank you for the link it worked a treat, I turned off the lights and didn't engage with baby just held her tight and close to my chest and she gradually relaxed and drifted off into a nice sleep! Such a relief! It's so scary but I think I was making her worse with my tension! Hope it's not as bad again but if it does hopefully I know what works now xx

mrsPD I've got a three week old who's suddenly started screaming in the evening the last three nights, this article matches everything completely! Three days of over stimulation and passing round, we got him to sleep with a 15 min, quiet and boring trip in the car at 11:30 pm. Thank you!
Also using Infacol 👍

Mine screamed for hours every evening until he was around 4months. Nothing worked, we tried all the meds including reflux meds, massage, baths, rocking, white noise etc. He was slightly happier on his tummy so I used to sit in an armchair with him lying on a cushion across my lap and stroke his back for hours while he cried. I cried a lot too. GPs and HVs all told me it would pass and they were right! By 4months the colic-hell was over.

It is horrible but sometimes nothing helps, only time.
