Taking my little girl swimming next week. She's 5 months and first time swimming.
I've bought some swimming nappies and a costume.
Will that be enough?
I've heard about these happy nappies but not really sure what they are and if she needs one?

Thanks

We use Huggies Little Swimmers and then a wetsuit over the top for our 12 week old when swimming, but she doesn't poop often so very unlikely to go in the pool. Public pools usually require 'double bagging', so not just a nappy or not just a swimsuit, but both.

Word of warning - keep a towel by the side of the pool ready for when you get out, as the temperature difference may make your little bub scream.

Enjoy!

I think a happy nappy is tight around the legs and tum so that any leaks are trapped inside.
You probably need to check what the pools policy is.

I would get a wetsuit, or similar to keep them warm, it can be surprisingly cold in the pool for babies.

Are you doing lessons or just going for a splash yourselves?

If it's lessons they will most likely have a rule that all babies must wear Happy Nappies along with a normal swim nappy. They do them in a range of designs and colours so you can use them without a swimsuit if you wanted.

They also so Happy Nappy wetsuits which we use as they're quite warm and have a Happy Nappy incorporated into them. Splash About (the company) also do wrap vests etc for warmth.

You can buy them on their website, Ocado stock a few (not sure on other supermarkets) or you can often buy them at the pool if they stock swimming items.

My DD started swimming lessons around 4 mo (now 16 mo) and we just have a swimming nappy (either Huggies or Aldi swimming nappies) and costume - and tbh, think that's what almost all the other DC wore. It's a public swimming pool and that was their "rules". Hope you enjoy it! Grin
