Prem baby and sleep?

My 5 week old baby was born at 36+3 so a little early but not hugely and she was 6lbs 5oz so a good weight.

My question is will she take longer to sleep better than if she were full term? She seems very sleepy during day still and isn't awake as much as reading would suggest she should be. She still wakes to feed every 2 hours but goes straight back to sleep most of the time (except early mornings!)

I really want her to sleep longer at night as so exhausted! Was waiting for 6 weeks but now have the panic it will be more like 10 weeks!

I was napping when she was during day but now she seems to only want to sleep on me in daytime...

In terms of sleeping longer at night, I am afraid it means nothing.

I think your expectations might be a wee bit unrealistic to be honest. Six or 12 weeks is nothing.

DD2 was a bit rubbish, but she was closer to two before she stopped waking every two hours.

Sorry, meant to say that's at the late end, but many babies will wake every couple of hours for months, many until weaning (esp if bf). Others you will be lucky and they will sleep well much younger.

My DD was born at 35+2. She didn't sleep properly through the night till she was 9 months old, and it's still not reliable! She's 13 months now (12 adjusted).
I'm afraid it's not an age thing though, it's an individual baby thing. Sleep when you can!

My twins were born at 34 weeks and slept from 11pm-7am from 11 & 14 weeks (5 & 8 weeks corrected age). They were 5lb4 & 5lb8 at birth. I don't think prematurity has anything to do with it.

My dd3 was born at 35 weeks(and just turned 1 yesterday). She weighed 4lbs and fed in the night until 6/7 months. Since then she has slept through most nights, except when she has been ill or teething.

As others said, it's an individual baby thing. My DS was 8lb 15oz, born at 41+3 and was is a terrible sleeper. She is tiny and still has her days/nights mixed up. Things got easier for me around 12 weeks, but you probably need to adjust your expectations.
