11mo has nappy rash

He's never had it before but he's got it bad.
He cries if I change his nappy and pulls away if I touch it.
He wouldn't like me wipe it clean earlier so I just cleaned him in the bath and now I've left him nappy-less to air it. He won't really sit down either at the mo, assuming that's because it's sore.
Last night I smothered him in some sort of cream but hasn't done much. Earlier I tried talc to maybe help dry it up. Feel a bit clueless as he's never had it before. What works best with your DC?
Thanks.

Sudocrem when he has a nappy on.

And getting air to it like you are doing.

Yellow metanium cream. Cotton wool and water to wipe. And a chamomile tea bag in the bath.

Second vote for the metanium cream, cleared up DS' nappy rash within a couple of days when no other cream helped

Bepanthen (sp?) works for us. Dd only started getting a sore bum when she was teething her molars at about that age. I'd also give a dose of Calpol for pain relief. Can't wait for her last 4 teeth to come through, then we're done. Poor little mites, it must be horrible.
