Sleeping bag to proper bedding?

When did your DC move from a sleeping bag to duvet /blanket?

DS has just turned 2 and DH and I were just wondering when this should happen. His sleeping bags should be long enough until he's at least 3 if we decide to keep him in them that long.

Tia!

We moved to a duvet and toddler pillow when my daughter was about 18 months. Not really sure why we made the change to be honest, but she has been happy with it! I suppose it really is up to you and him, if he is happy in the sleeping bag and they make them big enough, then no real reason to switch.

We did 18 mo as she was taking it off and I think it is easier to do in summer so thry can learn about a duvet before it gets cold and thry need it.

She was also potty trained by day, and dd1 had been trained by night by 2, although I don't think we are nearly there yet.

Between 15-18 months which is when they toilet trained. Was easier for them to go to the toilet at night then.

Around 2. But we had to do it v gradually (she gets attached to things!). For ages we had her in sleeping bag with duvet and pillow at foot of cot so she could get used to them. Then there was a period when she wanted bag + duvet (luckily, before weather warmed up) and then eventually we hid the bag (and said it was in the wash!) and she segued to just duvet. Now she loves her duvet and it is so effing adorable seeing her all tucked up in it.

I think we probably could have made the transition more quickly if we'd put our minds to it!

Thanks everyone Smile am amazed to hear some of yours were potty trained so young! Haven't even started it yet!

My son was in his sleeping bag beyond 3. Meant I didn't have to get out of bed when he kicked the duvet off. We only went for a duvet when we moved from cot to bed, we were also a bit 'late' doing that compared to friends but he never showed any signs of climbing out so again we went with the easy option!

Potty training came after the real bed and duvet'

2.10 and still in cots and sleeping bags.

2.5, when we moved him to a big bed. The only reason being that the cot will be needed for DC2. Otherwise we would have kept him in a sleeping bag for much longer.

Thanks everyone. We don't intend moving him from his cot until we have to and he's showing no sign of needing to come out! I think we'll probably move him into a bed plus bedding when it's time for night potty training.

My DS is 16 months old and has recently learnt how to undo his poppers and take his sleeping bag off which has resulted in us making the changeover to blankets.

We hadn't thoughts about a pillow though - is he too young for that?

Mine is nearly 2 and we did it last week. It's been fine. He had been sleeping with a pillow for a while- I suggest doing this first as it encourages them to stay put at one end of the bed. I figure summer is a good time to move to proper bedding as they are less likely to wake up cold if they end up on top of the covers.

However we only did it because we need to move him to a bed soon so that dc2 can go into the cot! Would have kept him in bags otherwise.

Pillows are fine to use from about 1yr.

I think mine were around 3. We only stopped using the sleeping bag when we moved from cot to bed.
