What is your (approx) 9 week old baby's routine. Opinions pleon mine

I have a 9 week old EFB baby girl. This is a typical day if we don't leave the house:

• 5am wakes, feeds and straight back to sleep
  
• 8am wakes, feeds and watches me have shower. Then I dress her. Sometimes play a little.
  
• 10am Feeds till drowsy then sleeps in sling, I do housework.
  
• 11am Wakes, feeds and play. If we go out at all it's usually at this time of day.
  
• 12.30 Feeds till drowsy and sleeps in my arms.
  
• 2pm wakes, feeds, plays for a bit
  
• 3.30pm Feeds till drowsy and then sleeps in sling (my partner comes home at 4.30 and we eat dinner hopefully with baby still in sling)
  
• 5.30pm wakes, feeds, plays a bit
  
• 6.30 grizzly hour commences of generally not being that happy but not wanting to feed or sleep.
  
• 7.30 Bath and into sleeping bag
  
• 8.30 feed in dimly lit room and put to bed.
  
• Sleeps roughly 8-9 hours
  

All the times are estimate and based on memory (I really should write it as I go)... But does this look normal? And must add that I haven't enforced this routine, she's just done it herself. The only thing I really do is make sure she falls asleep when I can tell she's tired with the help of a dummy and rocking/sling.

She never naps in her crib during the day but sleeps beautifully at night (touch wood!!)

What is your 9 week old's routine??

I think yours sounds dreamy and you should be very pleased you have such an incredible baby.

That post jinxed it. She has woken every 3 hours through the night ever since and cried pretty much all day today!!!

Sounds fine, my 8 week old ebf is weekday:
4am up for feed straight back to sleep after around an hour of feed burp Tec
8am up small feed, coat on
8:25 out of door to take siblings to school, nap in pram
10 feed, burp play
11 feed
12:45 back into coat to pick up from preschool, sleep in pram
3:30 feed play coo at older siblings
5:30-6 grizzle or.nap
From 8pm lots of all feeds for around an hour and half, final nappy change, sleep for around 6 or 7 hours

Weekend is different as no school runs so unless we have specific place to go in morning I don't get out of bed until around 9/9:30 as my older 2 will play nicely and quietly.

Sleeps roughly 8 hours. Oh I am reLly doing something wrong! Mind you I don't have a routine and tend to fees whenever she cries. I'm going to start being more structures soon. The fact she doesn't sleep chunks like other babies doesn't bother me per se but I feel like she should be when I read stuff like this. I think I've been allowing her to get overtired and then in the evening she paws and scratched my breasts!

Even worse I've been letting her feed and fall asleep on me at night time. When I have her a bottle one evening she was dreamy!

Sleepy, mine woke up loads last night. That nice routine we had going lasted about 3 weeks... But like everything else, it appears to have been a phase!!!

Argh mine feeds for 1hr average. She has had her tongue snippet last week but no obvious change. She must just be greedy! She isn't especially big though with birth weight of 7.2 and currently 10lb something .

I thought I was doing fine though till I read threads like this and chat to ppl at baby groups - one mum was doing controlled crying baby in different room from 6 weeks. I've been attempting this tonight and got the baby monitor out but I miss her! I'm so used to her being attached to me. She seems to feed with butterfly sucks very lightly with eyes closed mostly in the evening nighttime but she notices if I try to delatch her.

Sleepy I can't believe the mum you know was doing controlled crying at 6 weeks! I thought it was recommended not to start before 6 months. 6 weeks is so young!

Sounds pretty good to me! Is there something you're trying to change?

Our day usually goes like this: get up around 8am, change nappy, have breakfast bottle, have a bit of a play, nap around 9.30/10am for approx half an hour, wake up wash and dress, another feed around 11am. Usually go out after that either to a group/class/activity or just for a walk or to the shops. 2pm-ish time for another feed then a bit of a play and another nap. Maybe pop out again to Tesco or the post office if needed with baby in sling. Another feed around 5pm then a bit of a play/snuggle/dance around the house until 6.30ish, when we start to get ready for bed: bath, massage, jimjams on, feed, snuggle and a story (more for my enjoyment that hers at this stage!), pop her in the Moses basket and she's usually asleep by 7.30pm. Rush about tidying up for 45 mins or so then DH and I have our dinner, glass of wine and chill out for a bit. Dream feed at 11pm (just started experimenting with this!) then wakes for a feed around 5am/5.30am, straigt back to sleep until it's time for breakfast again!

(I admit I am a bit of a control freak and implemented the bedtime/morning routine fairly early on - no controlled crying or anything just low lights, no talking and doing the same thing at the same time every night until she sort of got that it meant time to go to sleep. During the day she pleases herself, if she's hungry sooner then she eats sooner, or if she's too tired to play then she has more naps...)

Sounds brilliant, my 8 week olds goes
4am milk, scream till I get him up
7am milk
9am nap in car seat on school run scream if car goes below 20 miles per hour
10am milk
12.30 nap in pushchair on nursery run
1pm milk
4pm milk
Then nap while in car
Between 4 and 8 there is a lot of screaming and attempting to doze off.
8pm out like a light
12 milk

When not drinking milk he does not like being put down, I struggle get him in chair/basket/play mat with out lots of screaming though we are managing small amounts of time.

He feeds every 3 hours most of the time and takes 5oz.

Well it sounded like that.... She said she was crying for 45 mins but they went in every 2 mins and then her husband would wait whilst the baby fell asleep. I'm not up on all the jargon!

I'm Brian but it sounds like your little one sleeps for about 4 hours at night. Because mine has been sleepingn on the boob it's hard to put her anywhere else. She's been in the cot this evening from 7ish and I fed her until about 11pm (cluster feed) and now I can her little grizzles on the baby monitor so I know she's not asleep but she's not screaming. Then it stops for about a minute and goes quiet and then the little noises commence again! I suppose this is the first night. I got way more sleep when she slept on the boob!

Could b a growth spurt making your DD wake up more for milk in the night.
My 7 week old has slept 8 hours in a row lately! I was hoping it was a forever now thing.
I don't have any routines apart from bath 8pm and bed between 9-10pm.
Ebf every three hours apart from evenings he tends to have 2 long feeds close together.

Well she has been relatively settled this evening but I think I'm on edge so can't sleep! I will have to report back in a few days time. Taking a positive approach, all these stories of sleeping babies prove it can be done! Where do they all sleep out of interest? When she was next to me I was tempted to pick her up at the tiniest of noises so having her in a different room is probably better for me.

She did used to grizzle and stir a lot as she went in and out of light and heavy sleep stages.

She has woken every four hours tonight..... And we had it so good!!!!

Until two weeks ago I was used to up every four hours. It has just started to be around 6 hours with the longest ever being 7 hours. As I have older children she just sort of has to fit in. I am going to try getting her to sleep longer at night from.about 4 months I think bit atm I am happy with our routine
