Mei tai/woven wrap for a newborn?

Hi, I had a stretchy wrap when DD was born and loved it but it was borrowed and has had to go back to my cousin now for her new baby. I still have a woven wrap and a mei tai which I used loads once DD was too heavy for the stretchy. I see online that some people do use them with newborns so would save me buying a stretchy for DC2 (due in 7 weeks).

I feel it would be tricky using a non-stretchy with a newborn - has anyone got any experience of success with doing this?

I would use the sling library but we are moving four hours away within weeks of new baby arriving and I don't fancy the hassle of posting it back if I could be using the slings I already have.

You can use them from newborn, personally I got a Victoria Slinglady stretchy as it didn't work out much more expensive than hiring one, and used that for the first few weeks until I felt confident in using my woven wrap with her.

I didn't get my mei tai until DD was older, but I think it would be quite good for a newborn.
