I always think he will smother himself and sneak in and take them out...

I used to do that! Relaxed after about a month. She can move her face or turn over easily. Up until that age or so, she didn't have them in bed at all, just two little 'special' soft toys.

I definitely did. Though in fairness DS insisted on sleeping with something over his face from birth so we got over our fear of suffocation quite quickly! He's 2 now and still sleeps with a muslin cuddled to his cheek.

as long as the teddies are age appropriate and I prob wouldn't have more than 2

With dd2, who is almost 2yo, I'm still iffy aboit letting her sleep with toys. I do take them out once she's in the Land of Nod.

Dd1, however, who is 5yo, cannot be seen in bed for she INSISTS on sleeping with her fave toys. Of which the numbers are epic.

I don't know when it changes, tbh Grin

My 16mo has loads of teddies in her bed and has for ages. I tend to put the larger ones out of her reach though.

My 22 month old has one favourite cat that he sleeps with, plus numerous other animals at the head of his bed. If I try to move or rearrange them he gets cross Grin

My 3.5 year old has a zillion teddies in her bed. Takes after her mum Smile (when younger, not now!)

Crazy my ds does this too! Had just a couple of small teddies as a baby & used to suck them, as he got bigger the numbers increased & he now sleeps with his head under his favourite ted, & peeps out between its legs! Grin

My 18 mo dd has 3 of those small teddies that're cuddling little blankies from Asda. She sucks the corners of them and that's her way of soothing herself. She's had them since birth and (bad mum alertWink) I've never even thought about whether they'd smother her.
Ds (almost 3) never bothered with any cuddly teddy despite the fact that relatives and friends bought loads when he was born - they're in a heap on his bedroom drawers - until I bought him a book with a small lion when dd was due. This dogneared, flea-bitten lion is now his favourite and the only thing he'll take to bed, falling to sleep whilst sucking the label.

My 16.5mo has just started taking a certain teddy to bed. As soon as she sees the teddy in her cot she rugby tackles him, then falls asleep on top of him. I'm sure this is completely normal.......
