7 month old crying inconsolably all night - is this teething?

My DD normally settles very easily with either her dummy or bf in the night, but the last three nights have been horrendous with hours of inconsolable crying. We tried everything we could think of (brufen, teething gel, milk, bringing her into bed with us, holding her, rocking her) and nothing seemed to help. Can this all be due to teething? I can't think of anything else as she doesn't have a temperature and isn't constipated. I'm back at work full time and the tiredness is killing me :(

Is she dribbling lots, and chewing her hands? It could be. If its her first teeth, it should be the bottom front teeth that come through first. Can you see or feel anything on her gums?

This was sometimes due to either being too hot or too cold for my son and for some reason that was never something I first thought of. Especially since one memorable night when it turned out he was too hot but he kept trying to snuggle in to me so. Not always too bright.
