Is 4 dirty nappies a day too many?

Ds is 12 weeks.

MIL thinks its too many and wants us to stop prescribed anti reflux medication.

No, I would expect to change nappies about 10 times a day at that age, but tbh I can't remember how many poos. Each baby is different, my DS was ff so poo'd more. Don't panic!

Sounds about right to me - about 8 - 12 nappies a day at that stage, with many of them dirty.

Reflux medicines often cause constipation, so be glad you have plenty of output!

Normal. My DC's pooing only slowed down after solids.

Completely normal. Don't stop any medicine without speaking to your gp first.

Pink Your MIL is incorrect. Don't take her advice. I think it's incredibly worrying that she has decided she knows best, and that she will not give the meds if (not when!) she looks after him (sorry to bring up another thread of yours but I think it is relevant here).

Your son has been prescribed the meds for a reason, not taking them is going to make him suffer. Why would she suggest you do that?

Poo was pretty constant at that age! Didn't settle to one or two a day until about six months.

DD1 pooed once every other day on average. DD2 pooed 3 or 4 times a day - sometimes more. Both perfectly normal.

Bf ds was 3 to 6 times a day til he started solids, then it went down to 2 to 4. Age 9 he's perfectly regular at once a day and never had any problems.

Your mil is being a bit silly.

No. Before DS was weaned he pretty much had a poo for every feed. Now he's 24mo and still has 2-3 poos a day.

There us a big range of normal here. 4 a day is totally within it.
