I'm a GP and I wouldn't recommend switching between formulas unless you have good reason to ie one seems to be upsetting baby or if you need a lactose free formula which only some brands make. Some babies will be okay if you switch between them, as above, but others can get upset stomach and constipation. My dd2 got very upset when I switched to SMA from Aptamil because I needed a lactose free formula. It would be better to give her ordinary Aptamil rather than the hungry baby for now and then get the hungry baby again as soon as you are able. Although it does depend on how many feeds of the C&G you've given him - if he's had several and seems fine on it and you want to finish off the tin for cost reasons, then keep him on C&G - don't switch back to the Aptamil just for the sake of it if he remains settled on C&G. They are all much of a muchness in terms of goodness for baby.

Try not to. We swapped ds a few times for constipation reasons and it unsettled him for weeks.

Even if you change from one type to another always try and stay with the same brand.

If you can get more Aptamil in the morning then yes I would probably change back to it. Ideally the less changing the better, so you could in theory leave him on the C&G. But you know he is fine with Aptamil, and you don't know that in a few days time on the C&G he might not be constipated, so if it is just a few feeds I personally would change back. But even as a GP there are probably GPs out there who would say stay on the C&G, so you could potentially do either. Just giving you my personal view though.
