Behavioural issues or just being 14 months old?

My 14 month old is so active. He sleeps 11-12 hrs per night but then is up, and "ding", that's it. On and on from one thing to the next all day long. He seems to have little attention span - will look at books but won't stop for the tv. He's happy to be in the pram whilst moving, but gets shouty when we stop or if he's not got attention .... He's so different from gentle DS1 and I just don't know whether this is normal toddler behaviour, or just too frantic.
He does attend nursery 4 days per week and they have not voiced any concerns so maybe I am just weary (!). But how would I know if there was a cause for concern, or whether I just need to be a bit firmer with him (however you do that) ....

14 months

I didn't know there were calm, well behaved 1 year olds.

Count yourself lucky you got one. The odds of getting two must be enormous :o

Hmm I feared/hoped that would be the tone of any replies!

Sounds normal to me. The only advice is "exercise, exercise, exercise": keep him busy and tire him out. Mine was very similar (slept through, but additionally had 2/3 hours nap each afternoon): once he is awake, he is awake and active... Has settled down as he got older (much more focus and concentration), but still very active!

It is hard work/frustrating some times, but I am not worried; he is clever, inquisitive and very confident physically.

My 14mnth old also shouts if the pram stops and actually grabbed a four year old in the supermarket the other day to get some attention!

He's also going through a delightful stage of hitting us in the face and throwing his food on the floor.

Sorry to hear you're suffering too, but glad mine's not the only one!

Very normal and very healthy. My Dd doesn't stop its go go go all day am afraid. On a plus side the baby weight has dropped off me as I don't get to sit down lol

my friend always says... dogs and kids need walking. and i think i agree. get him out of the pram on reigns, let him run off his energy. walk him everywhere.

my dd was walking everywhere at 14 months becuase i couldnt push a pram, and it was wonderful, did wonders for her. and now (at 9) seems much more athletic than her cousins of the same age.
