What to do and Where to have DS first birthday?

I wanted to have a small party for my son's first birthday. Essentially the plan was to invite close family (who have supported us during the past year with baby-sitting etc) plus my NCT group and babies - who I have been regularly catching up with over the past year. However, this means a total of 17 adults and 6 babies (all around 1) including us. Given my place is a bit too small to host so many people along with 6 crawling babies... I was wondering if anyone had a venue suggestion in Centralish London. I am based in Queen's Park - so naturally anything near there would be even better.
The alternative was... have an exclusive mummy and baby birthday (i.e. my NCT group without the dads) on one day and just close family on another day.... thoughts?

Not sure... it all sounds a bit complicated either way. I think the 'no Dads' thing is a tad harsh. Mummy & Baby sounds horribly cliquey and I think fathers have just as much right to be there as mums!

I didn't hold a 1st birthday party. But that's just me!

Gymboree was popular for parties when I lived in London (expensive though!)

With my NCT lot, we just had one joint party for all the babies- six couples and babies, and thankfully one of the other couples had a bigger house than us! We also had a rule of bring one present and swap, which worked well.

Then we had a separate smallish get-together for close friends and family at our house.
