I have been bf for 9 months but my son has had the odd expressed bottle if bm now and again.

For various reasons I am planning to ff him at lunchtime however he is refusing to take a bottle!

Not sure what to do now!!

Will he take a cup? DD never accepted a bottle, but was happy to drink from a free flow basic Tommee Tippee cup from about 5 months. She was fairly proficient with it by 9 months. Or you could also try a Doidy cup.

Neither of mine took a bottle either - we went straight to a sippy cup.

He takes a sippy cup but would only take an ounce or so! Not really enough x

DD was the same. We got some of those cups with built in straws. Superdrug do their own. Got some from the pound shop too!

DD was ebf until we started weaning at 6mo and gradually over the next few months I dropped 3 day time bf and replaced with formula or water from the cup. HV told me cups with straws were easy for bf babies to use as they've had good practice at sucking/having to work for their milk.

Have you tried the tommee tippee closer to nature bottles? I've found babies moving from breast to bottle take these much better than any 'normal' bottles/teats.

So far I have tried TT ones, 2 different teats. Philip avent ones and his sippy cup. Completely refuses bottles. Will take little sips from his cup but nothing substantial. Maybe he doesn't like formula x

My DS bottle refused. Tried every bottle/teat out there. I agree with above, just use a free flow cup. About an ounce to begin is totally normal. Your DS needs to be properly hungry and he'll soon learn to adapt to the cup. Might be worth trying a different formula. Aptimil is supposed to be as close to breast milk as you can get.
Good luck. I remember how stressful it was when 5 mo DS wouldn't take more than an ounce and he had to go to nursery at 6mo. Adapted surprisingly quickly and was fine by the time nursery came around.
