High School Musical - yes or no?

I have two DDs of 6 and 4. DD1 really wants to go to Saturday morning cinema tomorrow - but it is HSM. I think it's a bit young to get into schmaltzy teen romance, but actually don't know much about it. Do you let your kids watch it, and what age are they?

Yes, my dd is 6 and loves it. It's all very innocent

If there's another option btw, I really recommend Tangled. We saw it at the £1 showing this morning and it was great

My 4 yr old DTDs like it, as do my neices, aged 5 & 7. At the same time, the teenagers I teach are begging me to do it for next year's school play... It quite obviously has universal appeal Grin

It's a very light teen romance, they don't even kiss in the first one. Far more about the jolly songs really :) I actually find it less poisonous than the Disney princess nonsense.

Oh thanks all - think I will then. It will be such an easy way of spending a morning too!

It is HSM 3, though, in case anyone wants to warn me off.

My ds is 5 and he started watching HSM when he was 4. He loves it for the music and dancing. I don't mind watching it either!

My 3.11yo dd loves all three of the HSM films. My particular favourite is 3. Zac Efron is all grown up and delicious

Nothing remotely risky in any of them.

Number 3 I find a bit tedious - too many yawnsome soppy ballads and not enough of Sharpay and Ryan :) The kids love it though (agree re Zac E though).

I was also wary of DD1 getting into HSM. HSM 3 came out when she was in reception and we went to see it at the cinema. Its all very innocent and cheesey and totally harmless fun really. I think the romance bit goes over thier heads and it s more about the songs and dancing than anything else. Enjoy!

All 3 HSM are wicked

BooBoo...re Tangled...werent you disturbed by the emotionally abusive mother/daughter relationship going on?....apart from that I agree
