Bunk beds you can split - recommendations?

Greeninkmama · 04/02/2011 08:58

I need to get bunk beds for my DDs. I am not sure whether DD1 will be okay on the top. So I want to get ones that you can split so that I have a fallback option. Does anyone have any recommendations. I don't want ugly!

I know that Great Little Trading do a few different styles of bunk beds that seperate but they are quite pricey. Look them up on google.

Sorry... I hadn't checked stock. Have you tried Flexa?

I am not sure that they are ideal but I know many families who swear by the quality...

My two girls have the Noah bunkbeds from Feather and Black, quiet expensive (they have sales occasionally) but very substantial and look nice as single beds or bunkbeds.

We got ours from Sleepland beds. We're delighted with them. We did have cheap ones we bought from Argos and to be honest they just didn't last.

I love our Thuka beds. We got them from bunky business who I have to say offered the best customer service ever.

We have got Joseph Bunk Beds. Have had them for about 4 years now. They are great. Still look brand new and they separate really easily

Really sturdy too. Which they need to be as DSD is part monkey and likes to hang of them at impossible angles.

I got ones that split from M&S. They also built them as part of the service.

Here they are, we have the pine ones

panda and bunny M&S say that these bunks don't split. Did you buy yours recently? Just wondering if they do split really (albeit with holes) or if they have changed the design. Would love to get these - they are cheap!

Anyone got the Next ones?

Sorry, didn't notice your question until now, Greeninkmama. Mine were bought this time last year so not that old but the ladder does look a bit different in the picture so I guess they must have changed the design a little. You could phone them and ask? Though this might be too late and you might already have bought some others. Blush Must pay more attention to my Threads I'm On list.

Thanks Bunny. M&S say no, but we think yes after examining. But then I found bunkbeds at www.strictlybedsandbunks.co.uk which are narrower. Am now dithering between shorty ones and normal ones. But really have to do it soon because DD's feet are hitting the bottom of her bed.

Hi Greeninkmama
What did you go for in the end? I'm also looking for bunks you can split.

I saw these recently:

We bought M&S bunks recently they are fab. I asked them about splitting them and was told they are 'no longer allowed to tell people that they split for reasons of H&S'. She then said it was something to do with the structure.

I took this to mean it was perfectly fine to split them, they just aren't allowed to recommend it any more.

From the look of ours, it would work fine, you would just have one or two holes as a previous poster mentioned.

Don't know if you are still looking OP but Warren Evans also have a splittable bunk bed. We have 2 of their low deco children's beds and they are very good quality and they deliver and build the bed for you Grin.

Have a look on www.pine-design.co.uk, they actually make them and are so helpful. They are brilliant strong beds the even do a three high one which a friend brought and completely opened up her children's rooms floor space for playing.
