Toddler won't eat breakfast

She's 3.3.

She just will not eat anything other than raisins for breakfast. Have tried absolutely everything: various cereals (even Cocopops are rejected) both with milk and without it; toast (which she will quite happily in a cafe); eggs; croissants; sausages; beans; porridge; every single fruit prepared in every imaginable way. Nothing. Her behaviour when she won't eat in the morning is shocking and she's whines and whines for food later on. She wakes at the crack of dawn through hunger but won't eat anything. She eats reasonably well throughout the reat of the day, but mornings are terrible.

I've decided to tow the line I tow with snacks (if hungry, I offer fruit and if she ig genuinely hungry she'll eat it) and not offer raisins in the morning anymore, but it's stressing me out. I'm concerned that although it's a long way off, when she gets to school she'll be the same and horribly behaved.

Suggestions?

She's at nursery 3 days a week and I don;t thnink she eats breakfast there either.

Are you trying to get her to eat as soon as she gets up?
DD was a crack of dawn waker as well not through hunger through habit and she never ate anything straight away she needed to be up for a while before offered breakfast?
If I offered her earlier it turned into a battle ground so in the end I just let her get up and play for a while then stuck some breakfast down and usually she would eat it.

I did wonder that, but I'm ravenous when I get up so I just assume as she's saying she's hungry she means it. Perhaps something to try!

Mine, now 7 would never eat brekfast. He will eat a whole range of breakfast foods, but not till about 10am. He says he's just not hungry.

I figure it's just his bodyclock is set different from mine, so I try not to make a battleground of it.

Luckily his school allows them to have a snack at break. On a school day now he will eat a nominal breakfast - milky tea, two plain biscuits and half a bananna, then he has an oat bar at school.

He does sometimes get into that horrid cycle when he won't eat and then gets miserable. I think the trick is to try to catch him at the sweet spot when he's hungry enough but not too hungry, and then make sure that whatever he eats then is not junk.

Does it make a difference to your DD's later eating whether she has the raisins? If not I would maybe let her have a few early raisins.

My other DS would always eat at whatever time you offer food, but only from a limited range. He would happily eat the same things everyday. I have come to think we parents don't have that much influence, they won't starve and I just try not to keep tempting junk in the house (...for me too...)
