Beach party for 2 year olds....

Ok, ds is 2 next week and as we live near Blackpool and as ds LOVES the beach we decided to meet all his little pals at a quiet spot that we frequent on the beach.
Ive asked them to wear cozzies, bring a bucket and spade and come to play for a couple of hours.
Ive thought of:

  1. tide times, with only a 6 day prediction available ive kind of worked out that the tide will be going out by the time of the party.
  2. weather, am watching with interest to see what the weather will be like.
  3. if its awful the the gazeebo will be set up in our back garden and we will party in there.
  4. food, ive got party boxes for every one for food.
  5. water, im taking big bottles to wash sand off hands prior to eating.
  6. cake, obviously cant cut a birthday cake on the beach so im putting little individual cakes into party boxes.
    Phew.......what have i missed???????????????
Is it a really really BAD idea?
I decided that it saves mess in the house, i refuse to pay for a venue and food for 12 2/3 year olds when i can put together scrummy party food myself. The BIG plus of having a summer baby is we can have parties outdoors in the sun and fresh air........
    What do you think?

Why can't you cut a birthday cake on the beach?

You'll need enough adults to ensure safety but I guess at 2 parents stay anyway Fingers crossed for nice weather.

Yes ive got party boxes for the adults too, they will be staying.
I just thought that it wouldnt be practical to have a cake with sand flying round.
Id eat it (with sand and every thing, not sure kids would!!!!)

I think it's a great idea, just make sure you've got enough adults to watch them since at 2 they might think wandering into the sea is fun!
Take separate bottles of water for kids and adults since the kids will spit and theirs and you might not want to drink it. Other than that, have a great time! What about buckets and spades, could you take them too?

How about taking a couple of windbreaks to keep them in one place while they are eating! Herd them in, sit them dowm, you've got them safe!

Thanks guys.
Yes i put on the invites "bring your bucket and spade".
The water bottles are for rinsing hands, im getting carton fruit juices for people to drink individually. (they all seem to like them)
I thought of wind breakers but i will have a car full of food and stuff so thought lugging it all down there would be difficult.
Its all coming together without much effort i have to confess. All i have to do is feed every one and im EXPERT at that!
