Title says it all really, Saw a special report on ITV news this evening.
TBH, im confused as to what actually is going on out there, whatever it is, it looks horrific.
One piece that stuck in my mind was that Mugabe's regime demolished an orphanage, forcing the children out to sleep in the street.

Can someone help me understand what is going on?
Sorry if its a bit too deep but the footage has made me feel like crap.

Dh is from Zimbabwe as I believe is Gwenwicks dh. The situation is very bad there though atm. Dh's sister is still there and things are very bleak. Dh would be happy to email you some info regarding this if you like. Tbh, I'd not be totally happy to post anything here as I don't know enough myself about the situation. U'm sure Gwenwick knows a little more than me as she has lived there.

Wish someone could understand what's going on - I think most Zimbabweans are utterly confused at what Mugabe is doing to what was not so many years ago a thriving country with great promise ahead of it.

Mugabe is either wicked beyond belief or is out of his mind. There is nothing that he is not prepared to do to hold onto power and doesn't seem to give a damn about the welfare of his people.

this website gives probably the most accurate 'uptodate' news on what's happening out there - often stories which are reported on the ITV and BBC here are reported on there 'when' it happens, rather than a few days later as is often the case with ITV and BBC.

Aero - if your DH likes keeping up with Zim news - that website I've linked to does a very good daily email newsletter.

Yes he does like to keep up with the Zim news - thanks for that Gwenwick - he's asked me to save it in favourites for him.

very strange situation - Mugabe reminds me a bit of Pol Pots in the making.

Even though my SIL is originally from Zimbabwe and came to the UK before Mugabe started claiming back land (his words) from the farmers, her sister and mother only got out a couple of years ago because it has become so dangerous.

Her mother still owns a property but cannot get her money out of Zim (can't sell up - who wants to buy a flat in downtown Harare) so is living with my SIL.
