Is this a long time in a car seat?

Was out with a friend yesterday and baby (5.5months) was in car seat in car, that then got put into buggy, that then was used for feeding chair, that then was used to transport baby about and then was of course used for carseat again..about 6 hours, baby not out once. Parents didnt blink an eye, baby didnt seem to mind, but I just thought it was a bit OTT without a single break, that cramped position of car seats you know...

I can't imagine my DD, when that age, would ave been capable of being kept in a car seta type chair that long. At some point she'd have screamed to get out.

Didn't the baby need their nappy changed in all that time?

Seems a bit lacking in cuddles.

But I guess if the baby doesn't scream about it then it must be easy not to realise you're doing it.

I worry about babies backs when they are scrunched up in car seats for ages - but I am not sure it is really a problem - after all they are quite scrunched up in the womb too...
I was paranoid about my daughter lying flat as much as possible!

dd spent more time in her car seat than ds had because we were always ferrying him around to preschool and it suited her reflux to snooze there so if she did nod off I wouldn't have disturbed her. However the reason I don't like travel systems is that they do encourage this type of inertia and are quite restrictive in an older baby such as your friend's. Yuk to the nappy too ( I thought I used to change mine infrequently).
