noisy neighbours... argh!

We have had problems since last October with the flat above us.
Endless playing of loud music, drilling, jumping up and down... they have wooden floors which makes everything 10 times louder.

They had the police out on a coupole of occasions due to noise disturbances. And many, many people complained to the landlady.

Our landlady complained again at the end of April, to be told that the family had moved out and that a single man was now resident who works away a lot.

However, the past few days we have had the loud music, and what sounds like kids running around up there.
Now I am wondering whether it is them at all, or whether the noise could be coming from elsewhere.

I don't want to keep complaining if it isn't them, but if it is then their landlady needs to do somthing.
Not sure whether to get our landlady to contact her again or not

apparently there is building regs law governing the sound proofing in buildings if there is wooden floor - worth checking with your local council to see if flat has requisite building reg certificate for sound proofing - if not, council can cause them to sound proof in retrospect (I think) - good luck

i don't think there is, because it's an ancient block of flats.
but they are all leasehold, and there is a part int he agreement about doing things that cause disturbance to neighbours or some such thing (can't remember exact words)...

will definitely look into it though, because it seems like whoever we have up there it's always going to be noisy because of the bloody floor

it will apply to even old flats if they have taken up carpet or laid a new floor, unless, of course, they haven't touched the floor at all and have the original flooring

we have the same problem with our downstairs neighbours, they insist on doing d.i.y i.e drilling hammering at 9pm untill about 1am most nights and the woman constanly sings at the top of her voice which she really isnt good at! they fill there garden with crap which looks horrible, the smoke under our windows and air vents so it fills our house and makes me wanna puke, and they constantly have hundredss of people in her house who nick all the parking spaces and dont bloody shut up!!!!!! argh i know how you feel star lover, we feel we cant report them because they would know it was us even if it was anon as nobody lives next door and they seem the type to get nast about things like that and i dont want to put ds in danger. it drives me mad ive been thinking of taking up clogging just to piss em off!
